Putting up our Christmas tree 2009

Posted: December 3, 2009 in Being Silly with Mom and Dad, Christmas, Holidays

It is December 1, 2009 and time to put up our tree! Z couldn’t wait to get home from school and put the ornaments on the tree. But before we could do that, we went to playgroup after school. We made an advent calendar and a frame ornament while there. The kids then played and had a blast! When we walked in the door from playgroup, hubby had already started doing some decorating and had a fire going in the fireplace. So I decided to make some dinner. The guys decorated while I cooked then we took a quick break to eat and then back to work. We let Z stay up late to get it all done. Then after his shower, hubby made him a little cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows. What a great way to end the day! Our tree is absolutely beautiful!

This was our first day to also start a new tradition. I bought Elf on the Shelf for Z and he is a magical elf. He watches us all day and travels to the North Pole each evening to report our behavior to Santa. He returns every morning and finds a new fun place to hide. He is magical so we aren’t allowed to ever touch him. Z named him “Mr. Shelf the Elf”. What a fun tradition!

We are also opening a Christmas book each day until Christmas. Z loved doing that last year so he asked to do it again this year. That is also another tradition we will continue through the years.

He was so excited to get the first ornaments on the tree!

Putting on the tree topper.

Loving every minute of decorating!

Must find the perfect place!

Ahhhh.....at last!

All lit up.

Z's note to Santa. It says: Dear Santa - I want lots of toys for Christmas.
