Z did this awesome painting at art class. He used a bunch of different techniques and I just love it! Of course I had to show it off.

Before going to the end of school bash we had A over for some playtime while her mom and dad prepared for her birthday party. Those kids have such a great imagination. They built a fort with a bunch of blankets (most of them are inside the fort – not sure why….) and they asked me to get some pictures.

The so called fort.

Saturday, May 30, we went to a local toy store to see Joe McDermott perform and help the kids celebrate the end of school. It was so much fun. My cheeks and belly hurt from laughing and smiling so much. Those kids had a blast and Joe has found his calling – entertaining kids. He has some super fun and silly songs! We bought 3 cd’s while we were there (we already have 1 at home). We may go to his concert this coming Friday….we shall see.

Our playgroup had a trip to the exotic zoo on the calendar however the only ones able to go were me and D and a friend of hers. We did not care one bit, we went anyway. So on Friday, May 30, we loaded up the car and drove out to Johnson City to see some exotic animals. I can’t rave enough about this place! We did a tour of the zoo on a covered trailer pulled by a tractor and we got to hand feed a ZILLION animals! These animals were so cool! They let you pet them and hand feed them. You can imagine how fun it was for the kids! I had fun taking a ton of pictures and got to feed an animal here and there. After the tour we went to the petting zoo area and there were tons of deer and goats for us to feed and pet. It was truly amazing! Can’t wait to go back.

Since we all packed a picnic lunch we went to a local park (we couldn’t eat at the zoo since the petting zoo was released into the picnic area) to eat. We had a great lunch and the kids got to play on the playscape for another hour while the moms chatted.

After the drive home Z and I loaded up to go to soccer practice. Hubby surprised us and came to watch Z play. What a nice surprise!

Ok, it wasn’t me….it was hubby. Wednesday, May 27, there was an ice cream truck riding around the neighborhood and hubby flagged it down.YEAH it is the ice cream truck! I so remember chasing after the truck as a kid. Well, hubby thought it would be a fun experience for Z. The only difference from when we were kids and now was this truck was very nice and looked clean 🙂 and the prices are WAY HIGHER! Ok, back to the story…..so with the music blaring we let Z pick out his ice cream and then we did too. Our total was $7 for only 3 ice creams. YIKES! It was fun and that is all that matters…..right?!?!

YEAH it is the ice cream truck!!!!

DELICIOUS!

Tuesday, May 26, I decided it was time for Z to start riding his bigger bike. Let me back up some. A few weeks ago I bought Z a bigger bike, and without hubby’s approval. I decided he needed a bigger bike to ride and also it was time for him to remove his training wheels. No, Z was not the one who wanted them gone – it was just me. So we bought this bike, which Z was on cloud 9 over, but I told him he could not get it put together until he learned to ride his smaller bike without the training wheels. So as soon as we got home from the toy store, I took the training wheels off his smaller bike and off we went. He rode it all by himself! Apparently that little boy needed that carrot dangling to get him to learn. So now we are back to that Tuesday morning I started this post with…..

I took Z to the parking lot at his old preschool and off he went on his new bike. The problem is he can’t touch the ground when sitting on the seat so starting and stopping is hard for him. So I decided to show him how to start off with one foot on the curb. He mastered that perfectly! After riding a bit, he decided he wanted to show off his crazy skills to his little friend A and her mom. We met up with them later in the afternoon at another parking lot. Those kids rode forever it seemed like. Then we finished their time together at the park.

You wonder where the cow comes in to play? Well that evening we went to Chick Fil A for family night and they had live music and the cow of course. Z sang a few songs on the microphone, danced some on the dance pad, met the cow, ate dinner, and played on the playscape. Not in that order of course. 🙂 So you see, just another fun day with the F family (that is us).

The guy who runs the ice cream shop near our house is very good to our playgroup! He has done many things for us in the past and wanted to do something again for us this year. So he called me and asked me if we wanted to come in for some free ice cream. YAHOO!!! So of course I put it on our playgroup’s calendar and scheduled it for Monday, May 25. We had a small turnout at the shop but it was a fun and yummy treat for us all. Thanks Rafiq!

Later the night for dinner, Z asked me if I could make his meal like a smiley face. Of course I did. Anything for you honey! Besides, hubby was mowing the yard so let’s have some fun.

Sunday, May 24, 2009 was a perfect day to go to the carnival while my hubby was at the movies. So D and her family went with Z and I to the carnival at the mall. And after my hubby’s movie was over he joined us at the carnival. Z was thrilled to start riding the rides but A was a little nervous to ride some of them. She just would not budge and get on them. So the adults tried and tried to convince her to get on them but it was Z’s sweet talk that finally did the trick. He must have turned on his charm with her because when they got off the car ride, they immediately ran to one of the rides A was afraid of and they climbed on! That was all she needed and they were off and running and riding everything they could get to!

The weather was getting hot and it was about 4pm in the afternoon so we decided to take a break and go home for a rest period and some dinner before heading back to the fun. (We purchased wrist bands for the kids and it was for ALL DAY LONG.) We went back to the carnival around 7pm and stayed well after dark. WHEW! What a fun day!

When we got home and went to let our doggie outside, hubby found a frog on the doorstep. Z just had to hold it.

Wednesday, May 20, was Z’s Pre-K graduation! It was so cute! The kids were each dressed in a royal blue cap and gown. They walked into the the auditorium so grown up and proud to see mom and dad. Z walked with a smile plastered on his face and was waving. Then when he got to his seat, he sat there still waving and smiling. My guess is they told them to wave and smile but didn’t tell them when they could stop 🙂 He is such a rule follower! We all sat and watched a cute slide show from the activities throughout the year and then the kids did a super cute performance of many many many songs. The best one by far was the ABC Rock and each kid had pretend musical instruments. They all had such a fun time singing! Finally after all the clapping was over from their performance, the kids headed back to their chairs and waited to hear their name called. It was time to hand out the diplomas. When they called the child’s name, they were to walk on stage and get their diploma and then walk across the stage and stop half way and hold up their diploma and pose for a picture then proceed to the other side of the stage. It was so cute watching these kids do that! The teachers gave each kid a hug as they entered and left the stage. Everyone was so proud and you could see the teachers getting a little sad knowing these kids were moving on to Kindergarten and that they would be missed. It was such a special day and I am so glad hubby was able to take time off work to come watch! Z invited his best friend, A and her mom, D, to watch as well. And as always, cake and punch was served after the performance.

After we left the school and hubby went back to work, Z and I came home to watch the slide show Ms R put together for the kids in Z’s class. It was only kids from his class and from activities throughout the year. It was about 20 minutes long and absolutely WONDERFUL! What a great gift! Next we went to the mall for some Disney Store shopping then onto Chuck E Cheese for games. Lastly we met Daddy for dinner at the Olive Garden. What a perfect day!

Congratulation my sweet boy! You are growing up so fast! We are so proud of you honey!

I am sure you all know how very addicted to office and school supplies. Well, I finally outgrew my closet and needed to organize it in a better way. So here is a picture of what I did. I am so proud! If you are wondering what in the heck the pizza boxes are for, I store Z’s art work, notes from friends, concert/amusement park info, pictures of friends, etc. They make a great storage for larger papers too. I just had to share my super cool closet with everyone. It just makes me feel good to open the doors. 🙂
