Open house at school

August 20, 2009, was open house at the school. Before the open house, my friend T invited us to the school to have one on one time with Z’s teacher and to help her prepare the room (her daughter and Z were put in the same class on purpose). Z was thrilled to go meet the teacher! I was thrilled that we got the teacher we had hoped for and it was great to get some alone time with her. We helped with the giving tree and some work room stuff. We also got to meet all the special class teachers (art, music, theater arts, and PE). So by the time the evening came and it was time for open house, Z was so proud to walk his Daddy around the school and introduce him to all the teachers.

While in his classroom, we got to organize his school supplies and put his name of them. We got to do a few checklist things and then we headed home. It was a special day and night for Z and I think he is really ready for the big first day at Kindergarten! He can’t wait!

Thinking of our friends and family

I just wanted to take a minute to remember our good friends, J and J, in Houston. They have their house boarded up and were going to stay behind to face the hurricane head on. I hope this afternoon finds them safe and WITH electricity! They have 2 children so I hope all is well at J and J’s house.

Secondly, we have some dear friends here in Austin that are very sick. C and C  have been in urgent care and not doing very well. M is having a rough time with it all and can’t have visitors at this time. I just want her to know we love her very much and wish them well soon!

Lastly, I can’t believe I missed B’s birthday! We have been so busy with redoing the house, school, playgroup and recovering from vacation. But that is NO excuse for missing such an important day! I hope it was a great one! We love you very much B and hope Sept 10 was a great birthday!

House finally done!

After two and a half months the transformation on our house is finally DONE! Thanks to a wonderful interior decorator, J, I have the most beauiful house! J worked really hard and had so many great ideas! I have referred J to several of my friends, so hopefully she will remain very busy. But I must admit I am truly going to miss her. We have been together ever week for months now. I am not worried though because I think we have started a great friendship through all of this so I look forward to seeing her in more of a social setting instead of a business situation. Great job Ms. J!

Here are just a FEW of the rooms we did. J painted all the rooms in the house. I just can’t show them all on this blog. If you want to see them all, then you know where to find me :-)
