The circus is in town

August 22, 2009, we went to the circus with Papa R and Z’s cousin C. We got to the arena early to attend the pre-show activities. We got to go on the performance floor and get autographs of the performers and meet them and act silly like clowns. We had so much fun! And once the show started we were amazed at how wonderful it was! It was like a Broadway production. During intermission, we got some snacks and souvenirs. I just love the circus and we can’t wait until next year.

Lucas Miller again….this time at the toy store

July 24, 2009, we just had to go see Lucas again. We went to see him at the Fun Family Nights at Kaleidoscope Toy store and this time we brought Z’s Papa R and E with us. They really enjoyed the show and so did we.  The really cool thing about this performance was Lucas did all requests from the audience. Of course we suggested a few but loved all the ones people requested. I even looked over at some kids next to me and they were looking at me like I was just as silly as Lucas. I just love his music and I tend to get into the moment. Yes, I am sure I embarrass my son….but what else is there for me to do?

June 23 – July 3, 2009 – Travels to Indiana

Z and I went to Indiana to attend my grandfather’s funeral and to catch up with family. We left on a Tuesday morning and it was hard to say by to hubby since we were going to be gone for 10 days. Our flights were ok but it was great to finally be done with them. I can’t stay awake on airplanes. Good thing I have a perfect kid to fly with! It was fun for a little boy to take a truck to the airport, then an airplane, then a train to go to the next terminal when in Houston, then another airplane, then a car to take us to the house. He told that story to anyone who would sit still and listen. It was pretty cool I guess! Did I mention we rode on those riding sidewalks? Kids LOVE those!

Anyway, my uncle was at the airport to pick us up and drive us to Lafayette, Indiana. We stayed at my cousin’s house. She has 3 kids, ages 4, 6, and 10 so Z would not be bored! Those kids played from sun up to well past sun down! Seriously, they didn’t hit the pillows any earlier than 1 or 2 AM each night! Catching lightening bugs is about the coolest thing for a kid to do at night! Our visit was very nice! I got to see family that we don’t get to see often and I even got to meet some of my other cousin’s children for the first time. The funeral was very sweet and the kids were very respectful and quiet during the service. All the other days we just played and hung out with my awesome family: Grandma A, Aunt P, Uncle B, cousin H and her kids, cousin A and her daughter. It was hard to leave then behind when it came time to go home. But we missed hubby/daddy terribly and so wished he could have joined us.

In memory of Paul

My grandfather, Paul G, passed away in his sleep on Father’s Day, June 21, 2009 at 8:02am. He was 88 years old. Z and I will be attending his funeral on Saturday, June 27 at 11am.  We will miss him very much!!!!

I love you Grandpa P!

My Grandpa P is not doing well. He had a stroke over a week ago and never got better. He is now at my cousin’s house in hospice care. We are all so very sad to see and hear of Grandpa P this way. I will be taking Z with me back home to be with family and hopefully to see Grandpa P before he passes. We love you so much Grandpa P and Grandma A. See you soon!

Mother’s Day 2009

What a perfect day! I got to sleep in. Z and hubby made a wonderful pancake breakfast! I also had a bunch of goodies waiting for me to open. What could be better you ask? Well, the handmade crafts that Z did was just priceless! He and daddy had been working on a few things for days. I got a beautiful wheel barrow basket for a flower pot that Z made at Home Depot with hubby. Z painted it at home without me even knowing about it. They also went to Lakeshore Learning and did a ton of crafts. There was a hand-print picture, a flower frame, a purse and a stick person puppet. Z even had picked out a beautiful picture for my craft room. And I also got an hour facial and an hour massage gift certificate from hubby and Z. How shocked was I?????

after breakfast, hubby put Z’s new bike together and Z even helped. We got him a new big boy bike now that he can ride without training wheels. YEP, you read that right! He isn’t using training wheels any more! I taught him how to do it last week! YEAH FOR MOM!

Later in the afternoon, we joined the rest of the family for a lovely lunch. We met my mother in law and my brother in law and his family. It was a very good lunch. We sat on the patio and it was really nice! After lunch hubby, Z and I went out for ice cream and checked out half price books. Then we did some more errands and headed home so Z could ride his new bike and hubby could mow the yard. He also had to get ready for a week of business travel.

I had the best Mother’s Day! Thank you to the 2 men who mean the world to me! I love you both very much!

Our first lemonade stand

Let me start this post with an explanation first. Z’s friend A had a lemonade stand this past summer and we were customers. We also saw a few kids in the neighborhood also having lemonade stands. And Max and Ruby (the show on Noggin) had a lemonade stand. On April 14, 2009, Z had all he could stand, and asked me yet again if we could have a lemonade stand. After saying no for months, I decided to say YES. He was not only shocked but thrilled. So we got all the stuff together in a flash and were set up within 30 minutes. I sent emails to some friends and hubby called his mom and sister to be customers. We had a great time and had some wonderful patrons! Thank you my friends! Z made a whole $8 so he was on cloud 9!

Easter Sunday!

April 12, 2009 was Easter Sunday. We got up early to find a huge Easter Basket left behind and tons of eggs hidden inside and outside. Man that bunny does a great job! After the hunt, we got all cleaned up and did a few chores before our company arrived. We had hubbies mom, brother and his kids, and sister over for dinner out on the patio and some fun. I bought a craft for the kids to put together and Aunt K and Grandma C bought all the kids Easter Baskets. After dinner, the kids got to go on an egg hunt in the front yard just before dark. It was a nice day getting to see everyone. We even got to see Grandma C’s dogs. Z and his cousins had a BLAST with those dogs!

Making jewerly at the park

Feb 26, was a beautiful day! After lunch, Grandma B and I took Z to the bookstore then to Lakeshore Learning. They guys went to Walmart for some guy stuff :-) After shopping B and I took Z to the park for our regular playgroup event. It was so much fun. My friend D brought macaroni noodles for the kids to make their own necklaces. Then the kids played on the play structure. Since it was a bit warm outside, I called hubby and asked him to bring us some water. He did just that and brought my Dad with him. All my friends made my Dad and Stepmom feel so welcome and they enjoyed getting to watch Z play with a bunch of his friends. What a great way to spend an afternoon!

After the park, we went to Z-Tejas with a few friends and had some wonderful dinner. Sorry E and B for yours being spicy. It is Texas you know :-)
