Happy Birthday to G and M

Saturday, October 3 2009, was a dual birthday party for our friends kids, M and G. The party was held at our community center and was to celebrate M’s 1st birthday and G’s 9th birthday. They were both born on the same day but obviously years apart. My friend, M, did a great job with the whole party. She had a fabulous face painter there, a bouncy house, tons of crafts, and great snacks. The kids played for HOURS! Then after the party we went to dinner with a couple of families of friends. It was such a great day. Thanks for including us M!

D’s birthday party at Acrotex

June 20 2009, Z and I went to his friend’s birthday party at Acrotex Gym. The kids got to play in the gym for about an hour. There were trampolines, zip lines, balance beams, bars, and everything a gymnastic place would have. I even played with the kids. It was such a fun birthday party and we can’t wait to go there for open gym time.

Mom’s birthday

April 17, 2009 was my (Z’s mom) 41st birthday. I had a wonderful day! Z made me this beautiful arrangement using eggs from Easter and pipe cleaners. It is flowers in a flower pot. And he also made me a beautiful card! Hubby helped him with some of the craft. I have it displayed in my craft room and the card will make the scrapbook. Thank you sweetheart! Hubby got me an IPhone, a couple cases, and some speakers for it. I just LOVE it! Thank you so much honey! My mother in law, C, treated me to a deluxe pedicure which was HEAVEN! Then hubby and Z took me to Chuy’s for dinner. We had a wonderful meal! I can’t imagine spending my bday any other way!

And my dear friend, D, treated me to lunch the day before and got me a nice plaque and notebook. D also watched Z on the 18th for us so hubby and I could go to dinner and a movie. We went to see Vin Diesel in the Fast and the Furious. WOW is all I have to say! My other dear friend, M, brought over a nice travel bag filled with goodies. I am so lucky to have such wonderful friends!

Busy birthday for a big 5 year old

YEAH! It is finally here!!! On Feb. 25 Z turned a big 5 years old!

We had such a great day. Z’s Grandma B and Grandpa E came to visit us from Arizona to spend his big day with him.

  • We started out the morning making a beautiful book that Z took to school to show his friends of his birthday party.
  • We made mini pancakes for breakfast and they were yummy!
  • I took Z to school and brought in cupcakes for all the kids to help Z celebrate his day. They celebrated his day at 1pm so we could all share in the fun. The kids got to eat their cupcakes outside and then got to run around before getting picked up by their parents.
  • After school, we went to McDonald’s so the adults could eat lunch and Z was able to get a chicken nugget snack. We ate some more cupcakes for dessert.
  • Then we headed to Kiddie Acres for some fun in the sun! It was Grandma B and Grandpa E’s first time there and Z had fun showing them around.
  • Next we went to Toys R Us for a birthday crown and balloon. Of course Z picked out a game – Mouse Trap. He couldn’t wait to play it when we got home.
  • Then we headed home for some surprise gifts from Mom, Dad, Grandma B and Grandpa E, and Aunt Kathy. After Z opened all the gifts, we spent the evening playing with some of his new things.
  • Next it was shower and then some XBOX games before bed.

What a busy day! Z said it was perfect and it sure was!

Z’s big robot birthday bash

Ok, Z officially turns 5 on February 25 but we had his party on the 21st. I rented the community center in our neighborhood and invited all the kids from playgroup and a few kids from Z’s school. We had 35 kids come and about 25 adults – maybe more. My dear freinds D, M and her hubby R, and my mother in law, C,  helped me set up the center. Hubby worked on setting up the computerized robot. Thanks everyone for all your help!

I had the perfect craft planned for the kids - building their own robots from boxes and toilet paper rolls I had wrapped and prepared for them in grocery sacks. There was tons of stuff to glue on the robots and tons of glue and tape. It was so fun to see all the cool creations the kids andparents came up with. It was funny that the engineering dads were the ones really getting into the craft :-) My friend C helped Z assemble his robot as I was taking pictures and inviting late comers to build robots. Hubby was working the computerized robot and music.

Hubby had built 3 robots total; 2 were for decoration and one super fantastic interacting robot. It had a camera on it and a monitor in the belly where the kids could watch themselves on tv. There was super fun music playing really loud out of the robot and it even talked to the kids in a silly voice. He tried to get it to print out pictures for the kids but that function was not working properly. Oh well, they loved it the way it was and didn’t know any different. Those kids loved dancing and acting silly in front of the robot. Talk about fun times!

I also had a blow up bouncer there and a few games as well. These items were outside and the kids seemed to enjoy them all too.

We played pin the button on the robot. My nephew drew the robot for me and I think he did a great job! Thanks K! The kids loved this game. And some of them even asked to go again. Each kid was given a bracelet for playing.

Of course we had cake and ice cream. I had purchased 2 huge cakes and I am glad I did….they were a big hit. I also made some yummy punch that my dear friend T would make when I lived in Oregon. I think everyone liked it but apparently they would have liked it even better had I added vodka to it :-)

Next came presents. At this age kids love to watch the birthday kid open their present so each kid waited ever so patiently. I had the kids sit in a circle around Z and he had such a great time opening all the wonderful things his friends brought for him. And Z was such a gentleman and thanked each guest for the gift before opening another one.

Last but not least was the over filled pinata. My nephew and niece helped me with this robot pinata. Thanks K and C. That pinata was stuffed to the top with candy and a huge bag of confetti. Hubby rebuilt the pinata to make it have a string for each kid to pull. They loved that! There was a shower of candy/confetti. I think they may have had more fun playing with the confetti than collecting the candy. Don’t get me wrong….all the candy was gone!

When the party was over all my friends and their husbands helped us clean up everything. I was so amazed at all the help! I didn’t even ask for it. Thank you everyone for all your help with the party. It was a huge success!

After the party was over we went to dinner with D and her family. Z picked the Olive Garden. I was given the best gift at dinner when Z gave me a big hig and kisses and said “thank you for the best birthday party ever!” I just melted! What a sweet little boy! And your welcome my dear! Daddy and I love you very much!

Happy Valentine’s Day 2009!

Well today was Valentine’s Day and we had a very busy day! Before today, Hubby and I decided not to exchange gifts this year but Z wanted to buy a few things. So he picked out some candy for me and himself. Yes, he picked out one of his own Valentine presents. Anyway, Z got up first thing and made the cutest picture for hubby and me. He surprised us in bed with it and couldn’t stop yelling “HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!” Then hubby and Z got up (they let me sleep a little longer) and made some pink heart shapped pancakes with chocolate chips in them, they were yummy! Next, Z got to open his gifts. We got him a dvd that he wanted and he picked himself out a candy dog. Then it was my turn to open stuff. I got the cutest little statue and a dozen roses in candy. Then hubby got me some silly dice….we will stop there. We all exchanged cards as well.

We had a birthday party to attend for our friend, C at Extreme Fun. As usual, the kids had a blast! No kid leaves that place with dry hair. They are always so sweaty when they leave….that is how we judge how fun the day was. :-) Next we went to lunch with our friends D, J and A. It was so good we can’t wait to go back there! Lastly we went to this place where they have indoor rock wall climbing. J had taken A there the night before and she loved it so we all had to go again today. A jumped right in and started to climb. She did so well and almost rang the bell at the top of the wall. Z on the other-hand, was a bit nervous about climbing a wall because falling hurts. It took us some time to convince him otherwise but once he warmed up to the idea he had a blast too! He also got very close to the bell as well but I think he had more fun repelling down the wall than the actual climbing.   After climbing we let the kids play some games before we parted ways for home.

We had such a great day and Z is begging us already to go back rock climbing. Who knows….maybe I will try it too.

Family birthday for Z and his cousins

Feb 8, we headed to Gattiland to celebrate Z and his cousin’s birthdays. They all had a birthday within a couple weeks of each other so J and I decided to celebrate them all together. R and J made a super cute cake with all the kids’ names and ages on it. Each kid got to add their own candles and cut their own piece of cake. Z took a huge piece out of the cake because he wanted to get his whole name. Then came the presents. Z got a cool spaceship form his cousins and some neat colorforms from Grandma C. Before we went to play games, J gave each kid a special goodie bag. What a great party and what a perfect place! Z really loves that place!

Our friend B’s birthday party

Feb 7 in the afternoon, after R’s birthday party, we went for a quick lunch with some friends and then headed to B’s 5th birthday party at her house. Her mom had a Zooman come with some really cool animals. He brought a baby camel, baby wallaby, fancy bird, skink, python, chincilla, hissing cockroaches, and a raccoon type animal. The kids got to touch/hold/pet the camel and the hissing cockroaches.  The birthday girl, however, was allowed to touch a few more of the animals. Every kid sat on the edge of their seat eagerly awaiting each animal the Zooman brought out and they kept asking about the snake. Of course he saved that one for last and B’s father got to put the python around his neck. The kids were amazed! What a great party!!!!

Feb 7 in the morning, we helped our friend R celebrate her 4th birthday at Jungle Java. The place was a real hit with the kids! There was tons of stuff to do like climbing, sliding, basketball, balancing and much more. Z really enjoyed the place and so did the parents. Thank you so much for including us S and M!
