First day of Kindergarten!

It is finally here! The first day of Kindergarten! August 24, 2009! Z woke up excited about his first day! He couldn’t wait to get to school. Daddy went with us to school that morning. He helped Z put his stuff in his locker and got his lunch bag put away. Then they found Z’s seat and we kissed him good bye and we left. It was such a smooth drop off and we left there beaming! Our little guy is a big Kindergartner!

When I picked Z up from school, he said he loved Kindergarten and couldn’t wait to go back! He said he had a great time at lunch with this little boy that lives down the street from us who is in Z’s class. And he got to play with some of his playgroup friends during recess on the playground. This kid LOVES going to big kid school! In fact, that night he told his daddy he was a big Kindergartener and in a flash he would be in first grade. Slow down there buddy! We aren’t ready for that!!!

The circus is in town

August 22, 2009, we went to the circus with Papa R and Z’s cousin C. We got to the arena early to attend the pre-show activities. We got to go on the performance floor and get autographs of the performers and meet them and act silly like clowns. We had so much fun! And once the show started we were amazed at how wonderful it was! It was like a Broadway production. During intermission, we got some snacks and souvenirs. I just love the circus and we can’t wait until next year.

Open house at school

August 20, 2009, was open house at the school. Before the open house, my friend T invited us to the school to have one on one time with Z’s teacher and to help her prepare the room (her daughter and Z were put in the same class on purpose). Z was thrilled to go meet the teacher! I was thrilled that we got the teacher we had hoped for and it was great to get some alone time with her. We helped with the giving tree and some work room stuff. We also got to meet all the special class teachers (art, music, theater arts, and PE). So by the time the evening came and it was time for open house, Z was so proud to walk his Daddy around the school and introduce him to all the teachers.

While in his classroom, we got to organize his school supplies and put his name of them. We got to do a few checklist things and then we headed home. It was a special day and night for Z and I think he is really ready for the big first day at Kindergarten! He can’t wait!

WICKED!

August 19, 2009 was such a wicked night! Why you wonder? Well, my dear friend, M, had gotten us tickets to go to the Broadway Musical Wicked. We first went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and had a wonderful dinner and great conversation and then headed downtown for Wicked. It was such a great show! It was my first time to see it but M had seen it before. I would so go again! WICKED WAS WICKED! I loved it!!!! Thanks M for the idea! And from now on, I will be your musical buddy! Riverdance….here we come in December!

Joe McDermott again

August 15, 2009, we went to see Joe McDermott at the Round Rock Library with our friends. Joe is such a nice man and his songs are so fun! We just love to go see him perform! If yo haven’t seen him and live in the area, you should look him up!

Final family fun night at Kaleidoscope Toys

August 14, 2009, was the final family fun night at the toy store. We got to hear Static Correction sing. It was a fun time! After the show, the owner of the toy store had a bunch of goodies to give away. She had a drawing and Z won a prize. It was a game and he just loves to play it! Thanks Ms. T for the fun summer and gift! We can’t wait until next summer!

Sheriff and the bike lady…

August 13, 2009 was a very busy day with us and playgroup. Z and I started the day watching some friends while their mom took their brother to the doctor. After breakfast, we headed to the park to a playdate with someone from the Sheriff’s department. Deputy M did a really good job talking with the kids about strangers, safety, calling 911, and rules when riding bikes. Then he let each kid sit in his vehicle. They LOVED that part!

After the sheriff visit, we took G and P back home with us for some lunch. Then their mom and little brother came to visit. Before we knew it, it was time to head back to the park for another playdate. This time it was with the bike lady teaching us about bike safety and stuff. She even set up a riding course for the kids and brought new helmets for everyone. WHEW! What a busy day!

Kinder Camp!

August 12, 2009, was Kinder Camp for the kids at Z’s new Elementary School. He got to spend time at the school with the teachers and other kids to get comfortable with the whole school idea. While the kids were with the teachers, the parents were in the cafeteria meeting with the principle. Afterwards, we all went on a school bus ride. It was so cute to see the little kids get on the bus. I even led the people on the bus with a lovely little song….The Wheels on the Bus…. I know, I am a dork. But the kids all loved it!

Playgroup tour of Krispy Kreme Donuts

On August 11, 2009, our playgroup got to go on another tour of Krispy Kreme. We did it last summer and it was so much fun we decided to do it again this summer. We had such a great turn out. We got to go see how they make the donuts, touch the dough, ice our own donuts, eat tons of donuts, and play. Then after the sugar high, we all headed to Applebee’s for some lunch.  It was such a sweet time with friends

Port Aransas 2009

We drove to Port Aransas for our summer family vacation the first part of August. It was so much fun! We rented a condo on the beach and had a beach front and pool view from our room. It was truly beautiful! We got to playon the beach A LOT, fed seagulls, swam in the pool, ate great food, had fun shopping, Z got to bungee jump, took a boat tour, visited the USS Lexington, visited the Texas State Aquarium, and rode the ferry. Enjoy some of our pictures!
